I’m Dave Snyder. I’ve been an organizer for thirty years.
I was always inspired by the philosophical concept of the rhizome, and it has woven itself through my work throughout my career.
Now that I’m dipping my toe into the waters of contract organizing and consulting, I see great opportunities to continue making connections and knitting together new assemblages of people and communities, voices and movements.
RHIZOMES
This website itself is a rhizome.
There are stories and pictures and testimonials from campaigns I’ve been lucky to be part of over the years; there are pieces of writing, poetry and essays, which interweave through the last 30+ years of work and life; there are links to some of my favorite writers, movement mentors and theorists; and there are links to sustainable, ethical, BIPOC owned businesses I want to support, as well as links to local organizing opportunities for folks in Minnesota.
It’s one, big, messy rhizome. You could say I’m at the “center”, but not as a managerial presence that imposes a single overarching set of organizing principles to the page. Not everything you’ll find here will “agree with you”, nor will it all cohere to a single position. What I offer is a set of voices, bits of knowledge and narrative, products and movement currents, connections to various communities, that I believe can enrich each other as a buzzing ecosystem.
